XXV. Congress of the German Society for Philosophy
The 25th conference of the German Society of Philosophy deals with the true, the good, and the beautiful – and, therefore, with everything? Yes and no. As always, the conference will be an exhibition of philosophy and provide the opportunity to present research from all parts of philosophy: in 35 sections there will be talks about virtually all fields and periods of philosophy. At the same time, there will be, mainly in the colloquia, a focus on special questions, which have, in recent years, more and more taken centre stage in philosophical research. These questions are concerned with the relations between truth, goodness and beauty: What is the relation between epistemic and practical norms? Can judgements about the good and the beautiful be true (and false)? What is the value of truth? Is a good life a beautiful life? Is the aim of art beauty, truth or goodness? These and related questions are located at the intersection of theoretical and practical philosophy – and, therefore, maybe at the centre of philosophy in general. more …
Update 28 March 2021: Change to online format
Unfortunately, the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic is forcing us to change the format of the congress: this year, the event has to be held online.
To compensate for any disadvantages of this format as far as possible and, above all, to make the best use of it, we shall adapt the schedule and enhance the structure accordingly. In due course, further information will be available on this website. Of course, we shall notify all contributors and participants directly.
We kindly ask for your understanding.
New conference date
Unfortunately, due to the current Covid-19 pandemic it is impossible to hold our congress as planned (6th – 9th September 2020). It is not yet clear whether it would even be legally possible to hold it this year. However, it is clear that it would require very severe restrictions, so that essential goals of the congress could not be achieved. The congress is therefore postponed by one year to the following date:
Sunday, 5th September 2021, to Thursday, 9th September 2021
Please accept our apologies.
We shall provide all participants and contributors with further information shortly.
All events will be held online.
